Even a global pandemic can’t stop Germany from a rave.
After the World Club Dome festival was postponed to 2021 due to the coronavirus, BigCityBeats, the team behind the festival, found a way to give people their party fix while still upholding social-distancing rules.
They brought fans to Autokino Düsseldorf Drive-In Cinema Stadium, filling the parking lot with cars for a drive-in rave April 30.
The drive-in beats fest featured artists such as DJ Le Shuuk, Tiefblau, Plastikfunk and Topic on the setlist along with fireworks and strobe lights.
Each car was instructed to tune into the set through their radios. Ravers partied in their respective cars, honking with excitement.
This innovation is expected to have other events follow in its footsteps, possibly setting a new standard for “autodiscos.” Club Index, a club in a German town close to the Netherlands border, also recently hosted a drive-in club experience, the Daily Mail reported.
The club held 250 cars in its parking lot, each car allowed to hold two people inside. About 500 party-goers were able to enjoy live music while still social distancing.
BigCityBeats is already planning a second drive-in rave set for May 20.
